Discover Ancient Entrances Of Old Tbilisi

  871

If you enjoy walking and you love vintage and old historical places, then I definitely recommend you to visit the entrances of Old Tbilisi.

In this blog, I will tell you about interesting places that you will find in the old street of Tbilisi.

You can get to know the history of Sakartelo in the nineteenth-twentieth century in the closest way in Old Tbilisi, practically walking on these roads you get the feeling as if the buildings themselves tell you their story, and the streets and houses tell you that outstanding figures lived in these places and created the culture of Sakartelo.

One of the most outstanding entrance halls in Tbilisi is located at G. Tabidze #18. In addition to its beauty, this building is distinguished by its history. In the 20th century, the Seylanov brothers, Armenian financiers, who were known to all of Tbilisi, lived here. They produced tobacco and, as we learn from the sources, they were also engaged in charity. Apart from their business activities, Seylanov brothers in Tiflis were distinguished by one more thing - an enviably painted residential house.

The house located at #18 Galaktion Tabidze was painted by the well-known Italian artist Benno Tellingater at that time, which was a big event in Tbilisi. As soon as you step into the lobby, you will immediately notice the impressive paintings. Which should indicate the globality of his vision and the receptivity of the Georgians of that time. Decorative ornaments are used in the entrance, classicism and baroque motifs are combined with romantic landscapes.

While walking in Old Tbilisi, you will definitely come to Asatiani Street #58 and you will see a typical and distinctive sample of Tbilisi entrances, which are distinguished by their unique style and paintings. The samples are made with natural paints, although sometimes oil paintings are also found.

Another cultural heritage monument is located at Kikodze Street #9, which is distinguished from all the others by a beautiful internal staircase and a painted ceiling. Such a staircase was popular in French houses of the nineteenth century, but it was brought to Georgian reality in the twentieth century.

It is also worth noting the fact that the building was significantly damaged by the Soviet authorities, but the ornaments painted on the ceiling were preserved, although they are also damaged and need restoration. The door of the same building is worthy of special attention, in which the aesthetics and architectural approach of the nineteenth century can be seen.
